A Workhorse Site

Wow! ResearchBuzz lists StateGuide:
''Like I said, this site ain't gorgeous. But who cares? It's an excellent example of meta-information gathered into categories.''

Thanks! But who says it ain't gorgeous??
The University of Vermont Prospect Research Office has listed StateGuide.com as one of its WORKHORSE SITES. We're in pretty rare company there, sandwiched between 'Newsroom' and refdesk.com.

Man! That's great!! Thanks! WooHoo!
We've now been included in Marylaine Block's ''Librarian without Walls'' web review. Thank You! SHHHHHhhhhhh!!!!!!
Here's her site.
Whoa! StateGuide makes Earthlink's elink newsletter! This was BIGTIME, traffic spiked with additional 8,000 uniques the first day and 5,000 the second.
Diners and airports and hotels, oh my! Make travel a breeze with this in-depth look at the 50 states. The State Guide indexes information by town or city within each state. Find hotels, maps, local movie and TV listings, neighborhood profiles, restaurants, and more. Plan a get-together 1,200 miles away, or learn more about a neighborhood where you might want to live. Even makes dinner reservations! Terrific for travelers.
We're starting to blush.

StateGuide gets a book credit as a research source from Neil Gaiman, in American Gods! There it is, right there in the Bibliography under 'Sites Neil used to research American Gods.' Check it out!

GoMemphis.com, a site by The Commercial Appeal, an E.W. Scripps Company newspaper, pretty much tells it like it is...
''StateGuide, packed with useful links, leaves frills at home.''

But we do think there's some sort of 'ugly' conspiracy developing -heheheh!
The Online Traveler
The University of Missouri-Columbia Libraries doesn't waste words, but simply categorizes us as ''INTERNET GUIDE: Reference: Government ''

Hey! Our logs show we've been listed as the ''Site of the Day'' by the Hutchinson Public Library, Hutchinson, Kansas. (It was the beginning of the holiday season, so maybe that 'Big Turkey' graphic wasn't meant to be an editorial comment!)
Here's their site.
Looks like we're getting to be a regular on the library reference desk. The Lycoming College Snowden Library shows us as part of its ''Cities, Counties, States & Countries'' guide. ''

Wow! ...now on even more library reference desks:

- Coquitlam Public Library, British Columbia, Canada
- Hunterdon County Library, New Jersey
- North Harris College Library Online, Texas
- Odum Library, Valdosta State University, Georgia
- Fort Worth Public Library, Texas
- Portneuf District Library, Idaho
- Lucy Robbins Welles Library, Connecticut
- Surrey Public Library, British Columbia, Canada

The Granby (CT) Memorial Middle School Media Center lists Stateguide as a ''Teacher Resource.'' We're filed away under 'Social Studies.'
Read and Research @ the Center!.
- Another K12! Holly Springs, Mississippi
- K12 Pawtucket, Rhode Island
- K12 Stillwater, Minnesota
- K12 Canton, Michigan

Here's one of our oldest links. Wonder how they found us waaaay back in 1999? The College of Education at Illinois State University's Geography Awareness Week 1999 , by the Illinois Geograhic Alliance.
The University Press of Florida lists us on their book page Travel Guides to Florida . The page title says "Essential reading!" ...though they may have been talking about their books.
U.S. Senator Max Cleland's Senate.Gov website uses StateGuide to reference his hometown of Lithonia, GA. When we get those senate.gov referrals in our logs, we feel sooooo patriotic!

Thanks Senatah! (Update: Nov 6, 2002 -Max lost!!)
North Carolina's Official State Coastal Waterway & Boating Guide, lists us 2nd to the state itself for Statewide Tourism Links.

We should also mention some sites that send traffic regularly:
- Phil's Place Tourism Page
- Budget Travel
- US Airport Parking

More and more independent real estate companies like The Goldizen\Riley Group are using StateGuide to supplement their local and regional information.

And even big, BIG companies like Unilever are using StateGuide to reference their corporate locations.

We're going international. Fachbibliographien und Online-Datenbanken , and Enkelte stater / Regionale Studier. Ummmm, OK, we need to brush up on our translation skills.
